Does striving for health really matter?

Is Health and Wellness Optional?

We all have heard phrases as “Your Health is Your Wealth”, and heard many definitions of health and wealth.

The dictionary says Health is the state of being free from illness or injury. The World Health Organization defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

Good nutrition and physical activity are components of your overall health. But we also must consider the mental and social aspects of health that contribute to overall wellness.

Many people think of wealth merely as an accumulation of things, like money, cars, property, etc.

I would like to add that wealth includes health and time. Time for physical activity, time for home cooked nutrient rich foods, time to spend in meditation and breathing, time to be with family and friends, time away from social media and Television (“tell lies”), time in the sunshine, time to laugh, time to watch a sunrise or sun-set, time with self.  There are many more components to health……….

Do you get the idea?

Is this optional?
