I was thinking about beliefs as I spent time with my mother. They say more is caught than taught. This is true of beliefs. Our beliefs are formed through our experiences as well as information we receive from people and events in our environment.
A few years ago, I identified some beliefs that I realized were not my own, but came from those around me. It’s amazing how time and growth reveal more beliefs that we forgot were not ours, yet we own them and keep them as our own.
Our beliefs are our own inner perceptions of what is true about ourselves, the world, and how we fit into it. Beliefs are sometimes in line with facts, and they vary from person to person, based in fact or fiction, emotion or logic.
Beliefs are often subconscious and can surface even when we are not aware of them.
Whether or not we realize it, our beliefs make up a powerful driving force that is constantly influencing our behavior, our actions, and our outcomes.
We don’t often actively reflect on them and whether they are serving our best interests, because over time our brains have simply accepted them as being true

We often carry emotions in our heart that sends signals to the brain or other parts of the body that could lead to disease. Even our DNA responds to the environment around them.
It’s important from time to time to re-examine what our beliefs are today. Are they really yours or from someone else? Think about where you are today and what type of beliefs dominate your thinking and actions.
